The woman deftly sews on a button on the shirt her man is wearing. She moves her face close to his chest to cut off the thread with her teeth, because real women don’t use scissors.
Ufff! This is beautiful. Especially this line - "Their temple room is full of images of deities but they seem like they are in communion with each other."
Honest confession - I don't recollect when I had subscribed to this newsletter. I am facing PPD since many months and have struggled with the ups and downs of life with lot more bumps due to that. I craved the stillness and I do seek writing as a way out to vent or pour down my feelings. I found that stillness in your writing. Absolutely loved this piece of writing .. :)
Thanks for sharing, Deepali. Writing can be both healing as well as transformative in how it offers us a space to re-jig our perspective on our own life and relationships.
I must also confess that PPD and other struggles of trying to recognize and keep my whole self together with little kids and a young marriage... played a big part in turning me into a writer. :)

My fav - Calling love by its name embarrasses us, almost as if it may still be bad manners to do so in public.
The Good Girl instructions in my head are shaking my soul these days
Gotta shake up the instructions and dismantle them

Your ability to have a look at the nuances of live moments (& then reproduce the same in words) is pretty good.
At times, when your reads appear in The Tribune I relish reading the same...
I'm not much of a phone/screen reader, though...
Thank you
